The Royal Business College Orientation Programme is designed to provide an introduction to life in NZ, school life and school rules.The Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students is introduced and explained by the administrative staff. As well as gently easing students into their new environment, the Orientation Programme also assists students to complete the formalities required of every new arrival (opening a bank account, obtaining an IRD number and student identification, etc).

Orientation covers an average of a day, but is often extended depending
on the students’ needs.

During the Programme, students will be given orientation on:

  • (a) homestays
  • (b) school rules
  • (c) school procedures
  • (d) classroom behaviour
  • (e) Christchurch/Auckland/NZ (includes getting around; money management;
    recreational activities; joining the library; health and safety; laws applying to overseas
    students; student rights,
  • (f) The Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students.

Towards the end of the Orientation Programme, students are interviewed by the Principal/Director of Studies and inducted into mainstream classes.
